Recording meter readings

Meter readings are the raw material for fair electricity billing. Homly keeps the process to a minute or two per cycle.
Main meters and sub-meters
Set up the meters your property actually has:
- A main meter for the whole property or floor — its consumption can be shared across tenants.
- Sub-meters per room or unit — their consumption is billed to the tenants of that unit.
Entering readings
Each billing cycle, enter the current reading for each meter. Homly computes consumption from the previous reading, applies your per-unit rate, and stages each tenant's share onto their next bill.
A clean history
Every reading is dated and kept, so you can always answer "why was my bill high in March?" with the actual numbers — reading to reading, unit to unit.
Tip: enter readings on a fixed day each month (say, the 28th) so billing periods stay comparable and tenants can predict their bills.
